I'm working on a video that will analyze openness versus secrecy in three Middle Eastern battles:
Third Battle of Fallujah (2016)
This will be a video viewable only by those who make a donation.
So figure out how to get that done.
It's going to be a few days, but this'll be my best effort yet.
It needs to be made available to be viewed only by people who have the correct link, or by putting it in a place that it password protected.
A friend of mine sends me his movies and documentaries that way.
The most secure is to put it in a place that is password protected, because once a link is sent out, that person can give it to someone else, so that link is only secure for a period of time.
You can tell if it has been exposed by the count though.
We started work on the password section of the website. It will take a couple of weeks.
It could be faster, but without funds upfront it's on an "as time permits" schedule.
When it's ready, current subscribers will receive an email invitation to create a password.
It'll take a while to make the video.
You'll be very happy.
I have no doubt.
As a current subscriber, I’m excited about this new upgrade. It’s an incentive for those who enjoy and learn from SQV to subscribe if possible and help keep this great forum going and growing.
I consider my subscription as an investment in my continuing education with so many knowledgeable teachers here.
And also you Quods are a stellar group of people.
In the days when the newspaper was the order of the day, how much would one spend each month to have their morning paper, for news that was days old and always had a liberal slant?
How many looked forward to the Sunday paper simply for the ad flyers? A Sunday paper was what, $1.50-$3.00 depending on where you lived.
I already make a small 1 time donation when you publish something i find really useful/interesting. So looking forward to more!
A couple of thoughts:
1) Set up a Patreon account so that folks can support your work with monthly donations. Patrons get access to exclusive content.
Downside: All new accounts go through an approval process before being accepted to the platform.
2) Move your domain to a hosting service that has e-commerce capability. Folks can then purchase and download the video. Watermark it or have the purchaser sign a non-disclosure agreement during purchase.
@EarlThePearls @ThomasWic @Debradelai Patreon is only one option. I have no idea what kind of resources Saul and Thomas have available to them, so I thought I’d mention it. For starving artists such as myself, Patreon is the only option I know of that allows folks who want to support me to do so easily. If there are others, I’d love to know about them.
I only wondered why because it is already set up to accept PayPal.
Since I have been using that for a LONG time now, I don't like to leave my financial info in any more places than necessary.
I have no inherent bias against Patreon, except that they have shut people off in the past they didn't like
Done. Getting to work on it.
Those who label words as violence do so with the sole purpose of justifying violence against words.
