@KodiakIsland I have diabetes type 2 and not always following directions got me in trouble with a leg ulcer. Eating too much salt and fast food made it form and it’s one of those things where a high glucose level in the blood makes it worse and hard to heal. The end result can be amputation. So changing diet, a round of antibiotics for a month and using 10% Bacitracin made a big difference. I am like a kid so I love talking about what I am learning about my journey of type 2.

@SandyisGettingSteamed @SpiceOfOurLife @KodiakIsland actually you should eat more fat and if you prepare your own food, you should increase your salt ie electrolytes. Home cooking uses far less salt than store bought items. This isn't a criticism, just my take. Lots of info in the SAD (standard american diet), which is killing us slowly. I stay 20 grams or less of carbs a day.
I have Diabetes 2 that was getting out of control a few years back. I managed to talk my way in to a Doctor run study on learning to control Diabetes. Only 4 months, very strict diet. Meats, veggies, limited fruit & hard cheese, 70%+ dark chocolate. Avoided most grains, carb heavy foods.
Lost 50 pounds (no extra exercise), A1C wemt from 8.0 to 5.8.
This recipe I developed kept me on track. Replaced a meal (or 2). Magic Muffins:

One important tip the Doctor shared was to divide your weight by two then try to drink that many ounces of plain water each day.
Be sure to read labels carefully, sugar is added in the most unexpected places.
I use plant based sweeteners like Stevia and Monkfruit.
I found Paleo and Keto recipes tend to work best. Just type what I want to eat in a search engine with Paleo or Keto and can frequently find a version.

Also, while not all organic foods are necessary, there are certain ones we should all buy: strawberries, spinach, nectarines, apples, peaches, pears, cherries, grapes, celery and tomatoes. These are worth spending the money on for organic products.
