The reason for this, I believe, is that it came thru this area in December and January. The real reason I am posting this, however, is that we now know how the virus works. It binds to hemoglobin like malaria and displaces a heme ion. This prevents oxygen delivery and that displaced ion has direct toxic effects to the major organs. This results in multi system organ failure.
The reason hydroxychloroquine works is because it prevents this binding to hemoglobin similar to what it does to prevent/treat malaria. For those that are real sick, however, the cascade could be too far down the path for the drug to work. I believe in the next few days to weeks you will start seeing people discuss blood exchange as a treatment regimen for those who are critically ill.
In my opinion, we have lived with this virus for months and you are safe to go to your local blood bank. My feeling is that blood will be a priority sometime here in the near future. Thank you all who took time to read this and decided to go give blood. Hope everyone is well!!
@EngOnDemand My Daughter went and gave blood yesterday.
I agree it has been here awhile. . I am more than ever convinced I has it . Don’t know for sure because no one knew what the hell it was
