Dr. Kyle Dettbarn, Pulmonologist
I rarely go on Facebook but felt compelled to this AM. I am a pulmonary and critical care physician and because of that have a unique perspective on this pandemic.
The reason for this, I believe, is that it came thru this area in December and January. The real reason I am posting this, however, is that we now know how the virus works. It binds to hemoglobin like malaria and displaces a heme ion. This prevents oxygen delivery and that displaced ion has direct toxic effects to the major organs. This results in multi system organ failure.
The reason hydroxychloroquine works is because it prevents this binding to hemoglobin similar to what it does to prevent/treat malaria. For those that are real sick, however, the cascade could be too far down the path for the drug to work. I believe in the next few days to weeks you will start seeing people discuss blood exchange as a treatment regimen for those who are critically ill.
@EngOnDemand My Daughter went and gave blood yesterday.
I agree it has been here awhile. . I am more than ever convinced I has it . Don’t know for sure because no one knew what the hell it was
Under this hypothesis, what explains all those horrible-looking lung X-rays? No sarcasm here, just pure desire to learn.
Why would anyone post a photo like that?
What is the purpose?
Who would allow that?
I had it in November
January for me. Mom and brother had it in December in Spain.
Those who label words as violence do so with the sole purpose of justifying violence against words.
