Being slightly rogue is kinda built-in by necessity
Your criticism is well placed.
Crozier appears to be a good guy, but mistaken and arrogant.
Had he followed the chain of command or even used the proper communications channel, he'd still be in command of TR.
His boss was two doors away and he never went there.
Besides his errors in fact, he made a huge error in judgement.
NAVSEC was right.
SecNav didn't help with anti-military media waiting in the wings. Now the President is forced to step in. Will he reverse the firing, give Crozier honorable discharge? The man has Covid-19. Should he die from the disease, I can only imagine what the media will do to Trump.
This president has so much to deal with - and now this nonsense. If only we could stop the media.
He wasn't discharged. He was relieved from command as he should have been.
The President will NOT reverse the order.
I don't care if the SOB has leprosy and cancer of the balls.
The media is powerless and irrelevant in this matter.
Nobody will remember this moron until he resurfaces as some kind of analyst in CNN.
Of course he wasn't discharged, and yes, he was relieved from command, as he should have been. But the President today said he's looking into it, suggesting he's going to do something. I wouldn't be surprised if he lessens the blow. Neither the democrats nor the media are going to let this go.
Could be, well, he was ill, had Covid-19...
@Debradelai @AmareVita @Lonestar @HectorHeathcote 28 pages!??? I had a customer who hired me to replace a window in her kitchen - she left a "book" on how she thought it should be done, complete with recommendations from several other contractors she had spoken to - if that wasn't silly enough, I saw in her trash can over 30 rough drafts! LOL- prices went up immediately when she asked for additional work!
HE WILL NOT AND CANNOT LESSEN THE BLOW.
You people have no idea just how serious this breech of Command and Control was and still is.
This is how serious this whole thing is. and this is just one kwickie google. Notice the date? That is March 17, 2020.
There will be no lessening or he loses all discipline and we lose it all.
Damn! People! Get you head in the game or at least figure out what it is.
Being relieved of command is just the first step of a rather nasty journey for a Naval Commander, or any commander for that.
Noting makes my blood boil than people not understanding the seriousness.
As I said at the beginning of this, this guy will not make it beyond next month with his commission intact.
Those who follow know how I feel about that fargin cliche as it has now become "Thank you for your service.
People are oblivious to the fact of Article 15, 32 and the rest in the UCMJ, Uniform Code of Military Justice and the reason why it must exist.
Because the military has the dregs just like regular society.
I served with people I would not have pissed on if they were on fire.
Now it is fashionable to bestow that same cliche on everyone who wears a bunch of funny colored clothes without knowing a damned thing about the person.
When I took that oath on November 29, 1971, I knew it was for life, for as long as it may last. It is still as lasting today and even more so.
You are free of me now. Time to get ready for work and my commute to create things for our kids so they can efficiently kill people and break things.
No thanks to that arrogant asshole who thought he was more important than his commander just two staterooms away on the same ship and every citizen.
@RonOgletree @Debradelai @AmareVita @Lonestar @HectorHeathcote. After reading that letter you shared with me, I dont understand why he sent the email when help was already on the way! Why did he ruin his career. Oh and PS, I agree with you wholeheartedly on this. Most dont understand the seriousness of security.
He simply lost his shit because he believed his own arrogance that told him this was all about him. Screw the rest of the Strike Group and every active duty person in the world and those of us who are tasked to support them too, still.
I have never run into a commander of anything who is so full of his own shit that this posterior orifice.
@RonOgletree @Debradelai @AmareVita @Lonestar @HectorHeathcote I'm betting your correct. When I get to my desktop, I'm going to share this with her and her ignorant buddies. Their attacks again, are on the Secretary of the Navy. She share an audio that he put on the ship to the crew. I'll see if I can share it here. He rips the CO to the crew.
Audio of Sec. of the Navy to the crew of the Roosevelt.
Tell me what you think.
Listen to the language he uses - and he has the gall to finish off quoting himself about "respect."
"Keeping their shit together."
"You'd be pretty f'g scared too."
What kind of leader is Modley? He should be discharged immediately, too. Maybe that will quell the media.
And he adds:
"I will never throw you under the bus."
He threw them all under the bus by denigrating their CO (in the middle of a Cove crisis while men were falling ill each day), using the language he did, and threatening them.
The effect of that was to shine more light on what this CO did, the lack of professionalism in the Navy starting with him Modley, and lastly, diminish the respect many have for the military.
And I'm not dismissing what the CO did. It's serious. Their should be serious repercussions. But with the media interference, how will this shake out? I think best alternative is get rid of Modley and continue with the reprimanding Crozier.
It's not acceptable. And Crozier has to be held accountable in a very forceful way. But will he? And if he ends up as a CNN analyst (as Saul threw out there) that would be a disgrace. Just a disgrace.
The media is still too powerful. I would love to see some in the media who were involved in the hoaxes of the last 3 years "not pass go."
@RonOgletree To me there are military people that take their oath very seriously.I was married to one(Navy-USS Robt Mccard) and like you, deserving of my respect.I only thank those who I feel deserve that respect by honoring their oath and doing their job
Crozier invited the media into this by broadcasting the letter. Period. Nobody did a damned thing to this arrogant POS.
I work in and around a SCIF for a defense contractor. The signs of COMSEC awareness are in every room and hallway.
When I was active, even our double isolated crypto test lab had them in and around it.
There is NOTHING more important for a CIC to oversee than COMSEC. Have you not figured out he DELEGATES the footwork?
Here, tell that leftist idiot to shove this up their keester after reading it assuming they have the ability to read anything above Dick and Jane books.
I choose my friends much more critically and can count all of them using the digits of my hands with room to spare.
Now, I have a ton of acquaintances only because I must in order to do business.
Wow! Thank you for your take, Ron. Powerful letter. Crozier's judgement under pressure, was a huge fail. What would he have done had this Nation come under a real physical attack? Now THAT'S pressure!
Those who label words as violence do so with the sole purpose of justifying violence against words.
