We have a series of videos placed by several users wit links that contain "youtu.be" instead of "youtube.com"
This is an old malicious scam.
I will delete those videos when I see them. If you see them, please report them.
To all, please be aware of what you are posting!
You can read more here:
That's exactly how links copy from Youtube app. I just tested it.
And they take you to an m.youtube address.
Not the ones I've seen here.
I noticed this awhile back but assumed youtube changed their linking inside Samsung software. I haven't used QV on anything but this phone yet.
What do you think is the best virus scanner to use Saul?
Beats me. I've been using AVG for so long, I can't talk about others.
Keep it updated and it will perform.
Okay good to know! I test new ones when I see buzz on them but so far AVG scans my devices clear.
Is this actually not true. Go to youtube.com and share a video. They are ALL "youtu.be".
Interesting. Maybe not with links from mobile?
...or shoot maybe I'm infected. brb!
I tried multiple browsers and not logged into google. I always get "y o u t u. b e" links when I click share.
Read the link I posted.
Pay particular attention to the last paragraph.
😂 Gottcha. Read it this time. 👍
"PLEASE NOTE THE VIRUS LINKS WITH YOUTU.BE IN THE ADDRESS LINE ARE DESIGNED TO LOOK LIKE LEGIT LINKS WHICH ARE USED BY YOUTUBE. YES, YOUTUBE DOES USE YOUTU.BE IN THEIR LINKS BUT BE AWARE THERE ARE VIRUS LINKS OUT THERE THAT ALSO USE YOUTU.BE IN THE LINK, SO IT APPEARS TO BE LEGIT."
What part don't you understand?
Thank you, Saul. If I see any, will oblige.
Oh my, thanks!
Thank you! Will keep an eye out for this.
@Debradelai When you hit the "share" button while in youtube on a desktop, youtube uses a shortened Bit.ly link as seen in picture below. If instead, you select the URL from the top of your navigator and copy/paste into your message, you get this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js-TEEWg0KE&feature=youtu.be
You did not read the link, did you?
@Debradelai yes I did! This is why I was curious as to what he stated there. It is the shortened version that has resulted in hacks.
@Debradelai Some of the people that answered your original post were unaware of how to post a youtube link without the shortened version. By copy/paste the URL you can get the long version.
Those who label words as violence do so with the sole purpose of justifying violence against words.
